The Elephants booked a place in the quarter finals with a comfortable 3-1 win over Ghana even though they had to play most of the second half with just 10 men on the field. Algeria on the other hand will be heaving a sigh of relief after booking a place in the quarter finals albeit in controversial circumstances. The Fennecs collected four points from their three group games, same as Mali but went through because of their better head to head record against the Eagles.
Coach Rabah Saadane will be hopeful that his side can finally hit form ahead of their clash against Ivory Coast and progress to the semi finals for the first time since 1990 when they lifted the trophy.
