Ivory Coast are expected to secure a comfortable victory over minnows Burkina Faso when the two teams meet in their first group match of the African Nations Cup on Monday. Watch the match live inside our members area.
The Elephants face an easy opener to this year’s tournament and with Ghana fighting it out with Togo in the other group game, coach Vahid Halilhodzic will be looking to move into a strong position and clinch qualification to the quarter finals as soon as possible,
Ivory Coast are one of the favorites to win the trophy this year but much of their progress in the tournament will depend on the fitness of their European based players. Halilhodzic has already bemoaned star striker Didier Drogba’s lack of fitness and has blamed the clubs for overplaying the players in the last month.
Drogba scored the only goal of the match as Ivory Coast looked far from their best even though they managed to secure a 1-0 win over Tanzania on Monday.
Burkina Faso fans will be hoping for an improved performance from their side this time around. The Stallions ended their last three appearances in the tournament at the bottom of the group table and have failed to qualify in their last two attempts.
