Mali began the tournament with a bang coming from 4-0 down to hold Angola to a 4-4 draw. However they ere unable to sustain the same level of performance against Algeria losing 1-0 after Rafik Halliche's header gave the Desert Foxes the lead in the 43rd minute.
The game will also likely be a last chance for the likes of Seydou Keita and Fred Kanoute to showcase their skills on the African platform.
Meanwhile Malawi were brought down to Earth in a rude fashion after losing 2-0 to Angola. The Flames had started the tournament on an impressive note beating Algeria 3-0, but were not able to repeat the same. Goals from Flavio and Manucho gave the hosts a comfortable win.
Malawi boss Kinnah Phiri will hope his side can surprise the hosts and book a place in the next stage of the competition.
