Bayern Munich coach Louis van Gaal could find himself without a job if his side fails to beat Schalke when the two teams meet in their Bundesliga tie on Saturday.
The German giants have struggled for consistency this season and find themselves sixth in the league table. While the club is on a four match unbeaten streak in the league, club president Franz Beckenbauer is angry with his side's performances so far this season.
With Bayern's Champions League aspirations in great danger of meeting a premature end, van Gaal will be hoping for some cheer in the domestic league with a comfortable victory over Schalke on Saturday.
In order to get his players in the right frame of mind, van Gaal canceled the training on Wednesday following Bayern's defeat to Bordeaux in their Champions League clash. van Gaal will be hopeful that the break will do some good and provide time for Arjen Robben to return back to full fitness after starting the match against Bordeaux on the bench due to an injury.
Schalke boss Felix Magath on the other hand will be keen to heap more misery on his former club and collect all three points this weekend that could see the club move to the top of the league table.
The Knappen have had a good start to the season and currently find themselves fourth in the league table, just two points behind league leaders Bayer Leverkusen. Schalke will be boosted by the return of midfielder Lewis Holtby who has recovered from his injury while Heiko Westermann and Rafinha are also available for selection.
