Manchester City will be looking to take advantage of a young Arsenal side and progress to the semi finals of the Carling Cup when the two teams clash on Wednesday.
Manager Arsene Wenger is expected to stick with his youngsters in this game as well. However he will be conscious that City will field their best side in a bid to go through in the one Cup that they have a realistic chance of winning.
With Robin Van Persie expected to be out for six weeks at least and Nicklas Bendtner out with a groin injury, Wenger is expected to give Carlos Vela an extended run in the first team. The Mexican youngster has shown immense promise and the League Cup with test his mettle especially if City put out a strong team.
Meanwhile Mark Hughes will be in a quandary over at Eastlands as his team have incredibly drawn seven games on the trot in the league. City are in the midst of a confidence crisis, but Hughes will emphasize the need to win some silverware this season and the Carling Cup presents an exciting opportunity.
City are expected to field a full strength side with Emmaneul Adebayor and Carlos Tevez up front. Roque Santa Cruz may also make a rare first team appearance in this game.
