Sergio Aguero took advantage of a defensive lapse from Lopo to give Atletico an early lead, but Diego Coletto headed Deportivo back into the game in the 21st minute. Lopo then earned a penalty in the third minute of second half injury time for Deportivo, and Andres Guardado did the rest by sending Atleti keeper Sergio Asenjo the wrong way.
Raul Garcia is injured for Atletico, who also have Paulo Assuncao suspended. The absence of the duo leaves Atletico thin in midfield. Unlike Atletico, APOEL were victorious in Cyprus over the weekend, beating Anorthosis Famagusta 2-0. The Cypriot outfit can move above the Rojiblancos with a win over Quique Sanchez Flores’ side on Match Day 5. APOEL have a point from four games, while Atletico have two.
