Udinese will hope to avoid a defeat when they take on Juventus in their next Serie A game at the Stadio Olimpico in Turin. Their hosts on the other hand will be hoping to narrow the 5-point gap between themselves and early leaders Inter Milan.
Juventus started the season in an indifferent way, but have recovered nicely to climb to the second spot on the league table. They mauled Atalanta by a 2-5 margin in their last outing prior to the international break. Two goals from Mauro Camoranesi and one each from Felipe Melo, David Trezeguet and Diego nullified strikes from Valdea and Fabio Ceravolo.
Bianconeri boss Ciro Ferrara will continue to be without Alessandro Del Piero, Vincenzo Iaquinta, Jonathan Zebina and Mohammed Sissoko as his side look to mount a serious challenege for the Scudetto this year.
Udinese are on the 14th spot on the lead table and although they are six points off the bottom three, things could get nasty if they keep losing. Last fortnight they succumbed to a 0-1 loss to Fiorentina with a Juan Vargas free-kick being the difference between the two sides.
Coach Pasquale Marino will hope his team can stem the run of losses and come away with at least one point from Turin. Marino has insisted that star defender Gokhan Inler is not for sale even as Arsenal are expected to come calling in January.
