The Blues came back from 2-0 to make it 2-2 against Everton over the weekend and grab a vital point. The Toffees had taken an early lead courtesy of goals from Victor Anichebe and Yakubu. However a strong performance saw Birmingham equalize through goals from Cameron Jerome and Craig Gardener.
Manager Alex McLeish will be happy with the character shown by his side and will hope for more of the same on Saturday.
Meanwhile Sunderland were unlucky to be held to a 1-1 draw by Manchester City last week. Kenwyne Jones had given the Black Cats a 1-0 lead in the 9th minute of the game, but local boy Adam Johnson equalized in the 90th minute to break Sunderland hearts.
Manager Steve Bruce will be unhappy that his side let go of a wonderful chance, but will hope for better this weekend. He has been backed by chairman Niall Quinn to retain his job even if the side are relegated. Lorik Cana remains suspended for this game, while Kieran Richardson and Jordan Henderson are doubtful starters.
