Falkirk, the only SPL team not to have won a game this season, are currently sitting at the bottom of the table with just four points to show from their efforts in ten games. The Bairns have also been extremely goal shy- they have found the back of the net only twice in their last seven outings.
Falkirk’s last game was against St.Johnstone, a fixture that went the way of the latter. The Saints took the lead through Collin Samuel’s second minute strike, but Carl Finnigan equalised for Falkirk in the 49th minute. However St.Johnstone scored twice in the space of three second half minutes as they managed to pick up their first home win of the season.
Tony Mowbray’s Celtic return to domestic action after a goalless draw against Hamburg in the Europa League on Thursday. The Bhoys could have easily won the game had Scott McDonald not wasted two glorious opportunities to beat HSV keeper Frank Rost. Barry Robson and Georgios Samaras were also guilty of squandering chances. Lukasz Zaluska, standing in for the injured Artur Boruc in the Celtic goal, made a string of good saves to keep the visitors in the game.
Celtic beat Kilmarnock 3-0 last weekend in the league. Georgios Samaras, Aiden McGeady and Niall McGinn scored for the Hoops as Killie suffered their fifth defeat of the season. Celtic thrashed Falkirk 4-0 when the two sides met in September, with Scott McDonald netting a brace.
