Rangers have won five of the last six games played between the two sides, the sole exception being a 1-1 draw at Ibrox in January this year. Walter Smith’s side drew their midweek league game against Dundee United. The match ended in a goalless stalemate despite United playing the last twenty minutes of the fixture with ten men following the dismissal of Mihael Kovacevic for a foul on Rangers striker Kyle Lafferty.
Hearts are still in the running for European football and did their chances no harm by beating Kilmarnock last weekend. Winger Suso Santana scored the only goal of the game just after half an hour as the Jambos picked up their twelfth league win of the season. Jim Jefferies’ men are six points behind Hibs, who currently occupy fourth place.
