Rangers were poor against Sevilla in the Champions League on Wednesday and suffered their fourth defeat in Group G against the Andalusians. Frederic Kanoute scored the only goal of the game from the spot in the eighth minute after Steven Whittaker was adjudged to have fouled Fernando Navarro. Walter Smith’s side barely troubled Sevilla keeper Andres Palop and the 2500 odd travelling Rangers fans again went home disappointed as their side bowed out of Europe without a whimper.
St.Johnstone were beaten 1-0 at home by Kilmarnock last weekend. Kevin Kyle scored the winner for Killie in the first half and again proved to be the difference between his side and the Saints. It was Kyle’s brace that had condemned Derek McInnes’ side to defeat when they visited Rugby Park in October.
