Barely a month after clashing in the Carling Cup, Pompey and Stoke City will lock horns again on Sunday, this time in the English Premier League. Join us today and watch Stoke City v Portsmouth live online.
Stoke were beaten 2-1 by Hull City at the KC Stadium before the international break. Winger Matthew Etherington gave the Potters the lead in the 29th minute, but Hull fought back in the second half, and grabbed an injury time winner through Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink. Stoke skipper Abdoulaye Faye saw red in the Hull game, and will therefore miss this clash as a result. Faye’s place in defence is likely to be taken by German Robert Huth, who will switch from the right to the centre.
Pompey had their three game unbeaten streak halted by Blackburn Rovers a fortnight ago. Jamie O’Hara’s 30 yard effort gave the South Coast outfit a 1-0 lead at the break, but Blackburn substitute Jason Roberts netted twice in the second half as Rovers came from behind to win 3-1.
In the Carling Cup game, Portsmouth ran out 4-0 winners, with Frederic Piquionne scoring a brace. Sign up today and watch Stoke City vs Pompey live as it happens.
